Logistics Day 2026

As part of Logistics Day 2026, we hosted an interactive session together with the Skillnaut team, where we explored a complex operational challenge through a practical scenario. The focus was on understanding why capacity and workforce scheduling are fundamentally logistical challenges: aligning resources, constraints, and interdependent processes, where decisions have system-wide implications rather than isolated effects. This also highlights why these topics should not be addressed in isolation, but examined in an integrated approach together with training decisions and competency development.

During the joint discussion, several insights emerged that extend beyond the specific case. One of the most important is that operational resilience is determined not at the individual level, but by the collective knowledge available within the organization. Closely related to this is the idea of translating real-world operations into mathematical representations—making key factors measurable so they can be meaningfully applied in decision-making contexts. From a training perspective, particular emphasis was placed on the fact that knowledge transfer is not a one-time event, but requires continuous validation and reinforcement to become a stable part of operations.

The overall atmosphere of the session was defined by collaborative thinking. Participants not only followed the presented scenario, but continuously reflected on where similar operational situations appear in their own environments, and how this mindset could be applied in their daily work. As the term “supply chain” suggests, this is not about isolated steps, but about a system of interconnected processes, where decisions can only be properly understood when viewed within the full context of these interdependencies.
